Rolls Royce DAFF
Phase 2 Redevelopment at Filton, Bristol, comprised the design and construction of a new production and process facility and office accommodation to replace the former East Works.
The building is 18,000m2 of steel framed structure is founded on reinforced concrete pads with a suspended fibre mesh concrete ground floor slab including a precast concrete edge beam. Upper floors are metal deck with reinforced in situ concrete, serviced by precast concrete staircases. The roof is an aluminium standing seam built up system and the external envelop is a composite cladding system. Curtain walling systems are incorporated into the works. The mechanical and electrical installation incorporated an innovative low-level displacement ventilation system that alleviated the need for a cooling system.
