November Winner: Chris Hart

We are delighted to announce that our November Safety Recognition winner, goes to Chris Hart, an Electrical Project Manager at our Exeter office.

During his visit to a local primary school on 3rd November 2025, Chris identified and reported a number of health and safety hazards on site. Demonstrating excellent vigilance and professionalism, he promptly informed the Client of the risks and followed our internal reporting procedures to ensure the issues were formally documented and addressed.

The hazards identified included:

  • Multiple uncovered floor voids following the removal of heating pipework, presenting a serious risk of trips and falls.
  • A lack of site induction information, including emergency procedures, welfare facilities and known hazards
  • Several 110V trailing leads running through corridors, staircases and walkways
  • Live fire and security alarms restricting safe access to containment routes

Due to Chris’s swift actions, the client was able to immediately resolve several of the issues, including reinstating floor void covers, significantly reducing the risk to all site personnel.

Chris’s proactive approach no only protected the well-being of everyone on site but also reinforced the importance of maintaining high health and safety standards at all times. By following the correct reporting process, Chris set an excellent example of how diligence and responsibility can make a real difference.

Chris was presented with his voucher by Johnny De Cruz, INTOHEAT’s Contracts Director. Commenting on the recognition, Chris said: ‘I’ve always been told at health and safety meetings that if you see a hazard on site:  Don’t walk by.  Report the problem straightaway.  This is a good approach to workplace safety, whether in the office or at a site, to speak up when you observe unsafe conditions or practices’

December Winner: Rick Cullen

We are pleased to recognise Rick Cullen, Project Manager in our Bristol team, as the recipient of IINTOHEAT's December 2025 Safety Reporting Voucher.

In December, Rick demonstrated excellent safety awareness by reporting a near miss that had the potential to cause a serious incident on site.

During the project, our client had scheduled engineers to carry out maintenance works on the ground floor of the building while our team was operating within the roof void. The expected arrival time had been communicated in advance, allowing our engineers to prepare to pause works while the electricity supply was temporarily isolated.

However, the engineers arrived earlier than expected and immediately switched off the power. The sudden loss of lighting left our team working in darkness, creating a potential risk of slips, trips and other injuries.

Thanks to Rick's quick response, work was stopped immediately to ensure everyone remained safe. He then reported the incident to the client and logged the near miss through INTOHEAT's QR code safety reporting system. His actions ensured the situation was addressed quickly and helped prevent what could have developed into a serious incident.

This is a great example of why near miss reporting plays such an important role in maintaining safe working environments. By speaking up and reporting the issue, Rick helped strengthen safety controls, improve communication with our client and reduce the likelihood of similar situations occurring in the future.

Rick was presented with his voucher by Managing Director Craig Timbrell and commented:

"The QR code reporting system is an excellent tool. It makes the reporting process much more efficient, and I'd encourage everyone to continue using it to report incidents."
