Our September 2025 Safety Recognition winner goes to Marton Plavecz, an experienced electrician currently working at Southmead Hospital, Bristol.

On September 2nd, Marton identified an item of access equipment left in a plant room that appeared to be in a faulty condition. The access equipment had not been isolated or quarantined and there was no warning signage attached to prevent others from using it.

Acting immediately, Marton attached an ‘Out of Order’ sign to the equipment and informed the Client of his discovery. He also reported the issue through INTOHEAT’s QR code reporting system. Following this, Marton carried out a toolbox talk on the correct process for managing faulty equipment, and the importance of visual inspections of equipment prior to use.

Our October Safety Recognition winner goes to Dean Laver, a Retail Project Manager. Dean reported a near miss on the 6^th October at a store in Carmarthen, South West Wales.

During his visit, Dean identified several unprotected gaps in the roof walkway. With limited lighting on the roof at night, these gaps would be difficult for engineers to see, creating a significant risk of a fall.

Dean immediately informed the store’s duty manager and maintenance team, and also submitted the report via the QR code system. He will return to the store to confirm that the gaps have been covered or repaired.

Dean was presented with his voucher by Retail Director Shane Head. Dean commented: “Hopefully these gaps have now been dealt with, so they don’t pose a risk to anyone working on the roof.”
