Intoheat Ltd Commits to ‘Earn and Learn’ by Joining The 5% Club

Intoheat Ltd, one of the South West’s largest mechanical and electrical building services companies, has showcased its commitment to developing its people by joining The 5% Club, an industry led initiative focussed on driving momentum into the recruitment of apprentices, graduates and sponsored students.

The 5% Club, initiated by Leo Quinn Group CEO of Balfour Beatty in 2013, is a movement of more than 500 employers providing ‘earn and learn’ opportunities to develop the skills and talents people need to become more employable and create meaningful careers.  Companies joining The 5% Club commit to raising the number of apprentices, sponsored students and graduates on formal programmes to 5% of their total workforce within five years.  Members are also asked to publicly report their progress in their Annual Report.  Existing members range from SMEs to FTSEs and cover a number of diverse industries from engineering through to the legal sector.

In joining The 5% Club, Intoheat Ltd has recognised its excellent track record in creating opportunities for its staff through training and apprenticeships and is particularly proud of its current investment in 17% of its workforce on apprenticeship schemes, graduate schemes or sponsored higher education.

Intoheat Ltd has been working closely with various colleges in the South West like Bristol City College, Bath College, South Devon College in Exeter, Exeter College and the University of West of England to enable young people to receive good quality training and providing Intoheat the opportunity for its young people to practice and learn on the job. Recently, Intoheat Ltd attended an Apprenticeship Event in Bristol organised by OnSite with the aim to become more visible to young people in the local area and to present Intoheat Ltd as an employer of choice.

The Board of Directors for Intoheat Ltd have successfully led the company through periods of rapid growth over the years, fostering young talent to support sustainable, consistent expansion.

“We are immensely proud to join The 5% Club and other businesses in the mission of supporting the emerging talent of apprentices, graduates and students. As we currently invest in a portion of our workforces’ education and growth (17%), we have seen first-hand the great potential of earning and learning programmes for younger members of the workforce. We welcome the opportunity to grow this percentage and support The 5% Club network and initiative.”

Gill Cronin, Director of Operations of The 5% Club said “We’re delighted to welcome Intoheat Ltd into our membership.  The 5% Club provides a fantastic network of HR professionals, sharing and learning from each other.  All our members share an ethos of creating a skilled workforce through ‘earn and learn’ development programmes, helping people develop meaningful career paths.”

Intoheat Ltd remain committed to staff development through all forms of training and mentoring, inspiring and influencing.  We wish to increase the employment and career prospects of today’s youth as well as developing our people as part of a business imperative and our commitment to corporate social responsibility.  To this end we would encourage other employers to participate in this campaign to safeguard Britain’s economy.
